  3. DupMsg 2.40 -- Released 12-12-92

  5. New Features:
  6.  
  7. 1)  DupMsg will automatically trim conferences in accordance with
  8.     MakeWild's Maximum Messages field.  (For use with WildMail's
  9.     Purge option)
  10.  
  11. 2)  Speed dramatically improved when DupMsg is run more than
  12.     once per day, when only a few new messages are added to a
  13.     conference.  In a 1400 message conference, one new message
  14.     only takes a second or two to process.  In previous versions,
  15.     it could take up to thirty seconds.
  16.  
  17. 3)  Added automatic message tracking information.  If full
  18.     duplicate logging is enabled, the duplicate's source or
  19.     the uploader's name will be written to the log file.
  20.  
  21. 4)  Additional duplicates identified that were related to the
  22.     < > @ = characters and ANSI messages.
  23.  
  24. Enhancements:
  25.  
  26. 1)  Additional error detection has been added.  More validity
  27.     checks are performed on the message record and keys to
  28.     detect possible corruption.
  29.  
  30. 2)  10070 errors no longer cause DupMsg to halt, but will stop
  31.     processing on the current database and continue with the
  32.     next one.

  34. Bug Fixes:
  35.  
  36. 1)  A rare error that could cause a QEMM error has been fixed.
  37.  
  38. 2)  Fixed an error when the high message number was over 32,000.

  43. --   It's been a busy time for finding new duplicates.  This
  44.      is an extension of the Fido High to Low ASCII duplicates.
  45.      Finds a few more dupes than v2.31.

  50. --   Discovered another twist to duplicate message detection.
  51.      Messages that get passed through Fido or other conferences
  52.      where high ASCII is not allowed have that high ASCII
  53.      modified or deleted.  DupMsg now detects those duplicates.

  55. --   Control [Break] remapping has been eliminated.  Previously,
  56.      the normal Control [Break] function was saved and a new
  57.      function took its place while DupMsg was running.  The
  58.      normal function was restored on exit.  Due to possible
  59.      BIOS problems on some systems, this has been eliminated.

  61.      Control-C remapping still takes place, and is inherently
  62.      more reliable.  Control-C is a DOS function while Control
  63.      [Break] is a BIOS function.

  65. --   Better control has been added to file opening and closing
  66.      procedures.

  96.      logged, but the program will not halt.  The master message
  97.      counters are kept in NODEINFO.DAT.
